60 weight (25mm = 1″ inch width)
Thin and Flexible with a Smooth Glossy finish. Many people would describe this material as a flexible vinyl strip, as the 500lb. tensile strength polyethylene webbing is totally concealed inside the polymer coating and not visible on the outside of the material. Overall thickness of this 60 weight material is 0.060″ (1.52mm). Note: lengths over 100 feet may not be one continuous piece.
The polymer coating is not vinyl but actually a high tech, proprietary Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) coating similar to the material used to make the cases and skins for cameras and iPhones. It is heat treated to make it harder and more durable than regular polyurethane. Polyurethane is considered a renewable resource because it can be made from vegetable oils, corn starch, and waste wood (sawdust).
Easy to clean and disinfect with an inherent resistance to Chlorine Bleach and most common cleaning chemicals makes this webbing ideal for use in potentially messy applications like food service (not for direct food contact), healthcare industries, and industrial cleanup operations.
This material was extensively tested in accordance with ASTM methods and is superior to uncoated webbing and leather in every way. Excellent for outdoor, underwater, and cold weather use. Stays flexible down to -68F below zero. On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the highest) this material rates a 6 for Ultraviolet light resistance, and a 8 for abrasion resistance. Sometimes called plastic coated webbing or rubber webbing because of it's flex characteristics.
Resists acids, gasoline, oil, lye / caustic soda, sea water and chlorine bleach. Can be sewn, ultrasonic welded, riveted and secured with screws, nuts and washers.
