Durable Heavy Duty Vinyl
Material

Naugahyde® was first
introduced in 1936 and since then is one of the most popular and
durable vinyl materials. it is still proudly made in the USA by
Uniroyal Engineered Products, a division of Michelin Rubber. Also
commonly called Nauga vinyl, Nauga fabric or Nauga material; but
this is the real stuff.
Traditionally used in the furniture upholstery industry, Naugahyde®
has become a household name for leather replacement material and most vinyl
covered furniture made and re-upholstered in the 1960's and 1970's was upholstered with
Naugahyde® until cheap, inferior, imported imitations flooded the
American market.
While overseas imitators were busy creating cheap knockoffs of the
early versions of Naugahyde, Uniroyal and its American affiliate
companies were busy improving their products, developing advanced
vinyl formulations and additives that make these newer generations
of vinyl products superior to those from generations ago. This is
why we are proud to be an authorized retail distributor of
Naugahyde® products.
For those who recognize quality, there is no finer made and
formulated knit backed vinyl leather replacement. However, the
advantages of this advanced, next generation material go far beyond a quality look, feel, and
construction.
This material is ideal for upholstery in emergency services
facilities,
military medical facilities and medical transport vehicles, it
contains a proprietary, formulated top coating of agents that are
effective against fungal and microorganisms. Information on these
disinfectant properties has been obtained from the CDC (Center
for Disease Control in Atlanta, GA
Additionally, this
special coating chemically enhances the disinfectant effects of
sodium hypochlorite solution (10:1 water and chlorine bleach
mixture) giving surfaces upholstered with it a lower risk of
pathogen transmission, which helps reduce the chance spreading
infectious agents between patients when properly disinfected.
Although the special top coat of this vinyl is chemically effective at
controlling germs, it is produced from environmentally friendly
materials and processes. Naugahyde® does not use solvent chemicals
(VOC's) or ozone depleting chemicals (ODC's)
In addition to controlling germs and allowing for easy cleaning;
Naugahyde® "Defender Series" Composite Vinyl material is flame
